Operating Principle
Axial flow fans function by imparting kinetic energy to air particles through rotating airfoil-shaped blades. Unlike centrifugal fans that redirect airflow radially, axial fans maintain airflow direction along the rotational axis. The efficiency of this process depends on several factors:
- Blade design and angle of attack
- Rotational speed (RPM)
- Hub-to-tip ratio
- Number of blades
- Tip clearance
Key Components
1. Impeller/Propeller: The rotating assembly of blades that generates airflow
2. Motor: Provides rotational energy, typically electric with variations including single-phase, three-phase, or variable frequency drive (VFD) controlled
